Learning to Count

Mr. D:  Jie-jie has two toys!
Me:  She has lots of toys.  So do you.
Mr. D:  No!  Jie-jie got two toys!
Me:  I don't understand.  What toys does she have?
Mr. D:  (holding up two fingers and points to one finger then the other)  Jie-jie got chicken and pop dough! I just got one toy!
Me:  (and now it dawns on me)  What toy did you get?
Mr. D:  A machine!  (holding up 1 finger)  One machine!

So this is what happens when my boy learns to count.  He knows that two is more than one.  And so he brings up our trip to the local toy store last month wherein Penguin Girl ended up getting two little toys as a reward for finishing her math workbook while he, poor Mr. Destructo, only got one measly construction vehicle.  The unfairness of it all galls him to this day.
